wiki -- how to
Goal: make link
from: janus.cs.utwente.nl:8000/twiki/bin/view/CT/Courses08
to: janus.cs.utwente.nl:8000/twiki/bin/view/CT/Here
In
janus.cs.utwente.nl:8000/twiki/bin/view/CT/NewMedia08
the link is represented, using square brackets [],
as:
* contribution(s) [[here]]
However, to link from
Courses08 to
Here
a better solution is to use the anchor
<a href=...>...</a> tags,
and change the original text, of for example NM1, into:
| NM1 | <a href=../../view/CT/Here>Web Technology</a>| 3 | 1 | ? | ? |
There are more possibilities to include links:
- link to category: <a href=../../view/CT/NewMedia08>Interactive Visualization</a>
- link to file created within category: <a href=../../view/CT/Here>Web Technology</a>
- link to uploaded file in category: (will download) <a href="../../../pub/CT/Common08/NM2-v10.doc">description</a>
- another example (opens in browser): <a href=../../../pub/CT/Common08/fragment-factory.pdf>relative link to pdf</a>
- and, finally an absolute link: <a href=http://janus.cs.utwente.nl:8000/twiki/pub/CT/Common08/Formatting1.pdf>full path</a>
The interplay between bin/view and pub (on different levels) is rather subtle, so a mistake is easily made.
In such cases copy and paste from the full link might be handy.
Note .doc files will start download dialog, and are difficult to track.
The full edit for NM is as follows. Note this is an example and will be replaced in due time:
| NM1 | <a href=../../view/CT/Here>Web Technology</a>| 3 | 1 | ? | ? |
| NM2 | <a href=../../view/CT/NewMedia08>Interactive Visualization</a> | 5 | 2 | ? | <a href="../../../pub/CT/Common08/NM2-v10.doc">description</a> |
| NM3 | Web2.0 Mashups | 3 | 3 | ? | ? |
| NM4 | Virtual Environments | 6 | 4 | ? | <a href=../../../pub/CT/Common08/fragment-factory.pdf>relative link to pdf</a> |
| NM5 | Game Development | 6 | 5 | ? | <a href=http://janus.cs.utwente.nl:8000/twiki/pub/CT/Common08/Formatting1.pdf>full path</a> |
Since full urls can be used, and not only relative urls,
it should be obvious that
links to pages outside the wiki can (easily) be made!
This will hopefully serve as a useful example.
