Visual Design 09 / Marek
Based on end project presentations.
- Timen: clear, interesting, both in technology and in steps in exploring visuals.
- Jason: unlucky but nice outcome, storyboards could have helped in communication.
- Martijn: good failure, straightforward but direct visual usage of ximpel. Story wise missing an ending or endings, but interesting starting point. Hope that will continue working with ximpel.
- Jochem: technical challenge. Would have liked to see more investigating into the visual, if that was possible in the client's project description.
- Peter P.: technical but clear (context and goals), good possibilities in terms of extending Jochem's or Peter G.'s project. Hope that will be used (do not be afraid to push the application).
- Peter G.: good explanation of visual style used, technically sound, nice to see a connection with another student's project.
- John & Martijn: good to see a collaboration, and a personal investigation in film/cinema. Clear concept. Too much context given on website, think of for example Blair Witch Project and clones.
- Peng Li: good challenge, as in, how to compile a collection of clips into a storyline. Next step: seeing how to connect gathering of extra information and gameplay?
- Ozgur: clear, could try to sell this to Haarlem (do not be afraid to push the application)?
- Ajin: lots of work done, good that both visual and technical.
- Olga and Mikael: good, both funny and interesting concept. I liked the rough aesthetic, if resembling to YouTube (movies). Next step: making it more personal, and/or thinking of the context in which this might be used (installation? personal statement? commercial?). Hope that they will continue.
- Vasileios and Chris: unlucky but nice. Crash is not a bad way to end a movie (although the statement gets twisted), see Szamar Madar on YouTube. Good to explore this form of aesthetics, but be aware of becoming too much of a global statement, and losing personal touch (i.e. Testify by Rage Against the Machine has "personal" parts in it).
