guest speakers' requirements

guest speakers

As a guest speaker you are invited to present your work to a group of students from Information Science and Computer Science. The students have a general awareness of design and culture, but cannot be considered experts or even very knowledgable in these fields.

presentation:

In your presentation, which should not exceed 45 minutes, make sure:

After and during the presentation there must be room for clarifications, questions and discussion. It is not necessary to develop any theory or extract universally valid guidelines. Your expertise and experience is what counts!

facilities:

There will be a beamer and a laptop (Windows XP) with powerpoint and a CD/DVD player. The laptop will be connected to the internet via the wireless VU Campus Network (2Mbit/sec). If you need any software installed, or if you have any other requirements contact eliens@cs.vu.nl as early as possible.

reviews:

In addition your might be asked to review and judge the portfolio of the students at the end of the course. In principle this should be done by giving marks (in the traditional way, between 0 and 10) and brief comments, using an online review form. However, you may want to give more extended comments to particular students or even wish to be involved more intensively during the process of development. In that case you contact the students directly, via email (preferably with a CC to eliens@cs.vu.nl), or send your email directly to eliens@cs.vu.nl .

In the form, mark your status as reviewer, and (naturally) you must not fill in the self assessment.

administration:

For arranging administrative matters, as has been agreed with you when you were contacted, contact eliens.cs.vu.nl You need to fill in a form, which requires your signature, which can best be arranged at the time of your presentation.
