Write a paper on a subject that is of relevance to object-oriented programming and software development. The paper may also deal with the application of object-oriented methods and technology to software development. The length of the paper must be 5-10 A4 pages, of 'normal' text density.
The subject of the paper must be related to
the subjects treated in the course of that particular year.
During the course, suggestions will be given
of relevant topics. It will also be indicated where
to find relevant material.
Also, suggestions are given in the book:
Principles of Object-Oriented Software Development.
For any subject you must discuss the problem and
find some additional literature
to compare solutions.
There are a number of journals and conference proceedings
in which material on OO can be found,
for example JOOP (Journal of Object Oriented
Programming).
Consult the library.
Also the library at
CWI (Kruislaan 413, tram 9 of 10)
is worth visiting since it has a large collection
of research papers and jpurnals.
Before you may start writing, you must have your
synopsis approved.
The synopsis must contain a working title,
a preliminary abstract of the paper, and a list of references.
In the abstract you must formulate the problem and
the approach you plan to take in dealing with this problem.
The synopsis may be no longer than one A4.
The final paper must be submitted in printed form
(together with the synopsis) in the (ordinary) mailbox
of A. Eliëns.
(Don't use plastic covers.
A simple staple ('nietje') will suffice.
Don't forget your name and reigistration information.)
The electronic version must be submitted by sending a
URL. Make sure that the URL is alive and accessible
from anywhere in the world(!).
Judgement and marking (cijfers) is based on the
quality of paper.
When deemed necessary there might be an additional
oral examination.
The subjects of this examination will be the
subjects covered in the actual course.
Each paper must satisfy elementary formal criteria.
That is each paper must have a title, an abstract,
and a list of references.
Also an introductory section and a conclusion is required.
Papers that do not satisfy these formal criteria will
not be dealt with.
Further
criteria are: Contents,
Relevance, Organisation en Style.
