First there were desktop applications, then the web and now we have entered the era of mobile phone applications. With more and more people owning iPhones or Android phones, mobile computing power will become commodity.

Combining mobile phones with large multimedia elements, however, remains a challenge mainly caused by the limited bandwidth available. Additionally, the smaller screen demands a smart GUI design as well.

The goal of this "afstudeerproject" is to experiment with different architectures and designs to support multimedia on mobile devices (iPhone, Android or Windows Phone 7). As a starting point, a mobile phone multimedia search & replay application will be used.
