... abstract movement ... as a central concept I introduce the line, in the meaning of giving direction, as well as limiting device, circumference, with in addition the theme of intentionality of perception, that is the assignment of (often antropomorphic) meaning to moving shapes, moving in space and time. Dependent on context and the role of the perceiving subject in this context, which allows for either free perception or necessitates responding actions in threathening situations, both lines and projections of meaning will present themselves in different forms, and effect control on behavior (and movement) in different ways. To be more specific, think (micro) force fields, rhythm contours ... The concepts of lines, limiting circumference and projection of meaning, roles in situational context, and control of movement and behavior seem (to me) adequate and useful abstractions to describe and characterize compositions of VR/dance. It is furthermore our intention (in cooperation with Hugo Huurdeman) to investigate how we can register and represent dance in a VR context with our interactive video platform: http://ximpel.net. And, I repeat, to end this with a quote: change is the key to auto-activation. In other words, it is time for a change!
